Mamelodi Sundowns will face University of Pretoria in the first MultiChoice Diski Challenge final at the Nike Football Training Centre in Pimville, Soweto on Saturday. Kickoff is at 12pm.
supersport.com looks at the players to watch from the young Brazilians in the final encounter.
Sundowns have scored 14 goals in the nine matches they have played in the competition.
The following players have contributed 6 of those goals.
Ntandeyenkosi Ngubane
The midfielder has been one of the star performers in the tournament and has three goals to his name, something very impressive from a central midfielder. Ngubane had an amazing scoring run, finding the back in three successive matches. He got his first against Chippa United in Pretoria during their 2-0 win. He scored again the following day in a match they drew 1-all with Wits, where he drove a shot from outside the box into the back of the net. His third came in their 3-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces in matchday 6. .
Motjeka Madisha
The Amajita's captain has been rock solid in defence for Sundowns, resulting in them conceding only once in the knockout stage of the Diski Challenge. Their defensive record was impressive during the group stage where they had conceded only three in six matches before their final match. They lost their last match 4-0 against Orlando Pirates, spoiling their impressive record. Matjeka lead Amajita to the Commonwealth Cup triumph in Russia early this year when the Diski Challenge was on a break.
Percy Tau
Arguably the best player of the Diski Challenge, Percy Tau has been an ever present for the Brazilians in the competition. After being grunted his wish to be excused from the demanding first team duties in order to concentrate on his matric studies, the 20-year-old thrived against his peers. He may have not scored after coming close on countless occasions, but he has been largely involved in most of the team's goals. He will be hoping to find his scoring touch in the final and become the hero for the Pretoria side. .
Tshepo Ntlaba
The teenager has had a fairytale run in the competition. He only made his debut in the quarterfinal match against Polokwane City after being promoted from the Under-17s and scored a brilliant free kick to announce his arrival in style. The young left winger was again in the starting XI during their 2-1 win over Black Aces in the semifinal. He had an outstanding match and got selected to the Team of the Week. Ntlaba has definitely been a find of the season for Sundowns together with left-back Katlego Babile, who also made his debut in the quarterfinal and scored as well.
Coach Alex Bapela will likely recall the experienced midfielder Lebohang Mokoena, who scored a brace in the semifinal, to come lead the youngsters again.
The club lost striker Bonginkosi Ntuli during the January transfer window when he was loaned to AmaZulu. He captained the side in the first matches and also scored in their 2-1 win over Free State Stars in the opening clash.
Sundowns also have another ammunition in young forward Tebogo Reed, the son of Bloemfontein Celtic's legend Benjamin Reed. The youngster scored a brace on debut against Black Aces in matchday six.
