It was an exciting weekend in the Absa Premiership with 18 goals scored across six games as Ajax Cape Town, University of Pretoria, Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic and AmaZulu won their respective matches.
The weekend’s action got underway on Friday night with goals from Milton Ncube and Erwin Isaacs handing Ajax a 2-0 win over Chippa United at Cape Town Stadium.
The win sees Ajax remain in fifth place on the table with 28 points while Chippa dropped to 11th place with 23 points.
Saturday’s early afternoon match saw goals from Thabo Mnyamane and Vuyisile Ntombayithethi hand Tuks a 2-1 win over MP Black Aces.
The win saw Tuks into the top half of the table in eighth place with 26 points while Aces dropped to 12th place with 22 points.
Pirates continued their winning run in the late Saturday afternoon game with first half goals from Mpho Makola, Kermit Erasmus and Oupa Manyisa handing them a 3-1 victory over Polokwane City.
The result sees the Buccaneers remain in fourth place on the table with 35 points, two adrift of third placed Bidvest Wits, while Polokwane dropped to ninth with 25 points.
The late game on Saturday produced a boring goalless draw between Maritzburg United and Free State Stars which leaves the former in tenth place on the table with 24 points while the Ela Lla Koto are in 13th place with 21 points.
In the match of the weekend on Sunday, AmaZulu ran out winners in a seven goal thriller after beating SuperSport United 5-2.
Goals from Marc Van Heerden, Bongi Ntuli, Bornwell Mwape and a brace from Goodman Dlamini handed AmaZulu only their second win of the league season, but still they remain rooted to the bottom of the table with 12 points while SuperSport are in seventh place with 27 points.
The final game of the weekend saw goals from Alfred Ndengane, Lerato Lamola hand Celtic a 2-0 win over Platinum Stars at the Free State Stadium.
Celtic are up to sixth on the table with 27 points while Platinum Stars are second from bottom with 18 points.
