There are no panic buttons being pushed at Chippa United despite just a single point garnered in 2015 plus early elimination from the Nedbank Cup, insisted their new coach Ernst Middendorp.
“I am quite positive. If you saw our second half performance against Ajax on Friday we have a lot of potential.
“We need 32 points at the end of the season and we have 10 matches to go – five at home and five away. I believe we will make those points and my target from the start of my taking this job is to make sure it happens. I am 100 percent convinced this we’ll do. I’m quite sure we’ll get it right,” he said.
Chippa lost 2-0 to Ajax Cape Town but largely outplayed them away on Friday night. Since Middendorp’s took over they has also had a narrow defeat at the University of Pretoria plus a draw with Maritzburg United, one of the coach’s old clubs. Chippa have 23 points from 20 games but have not won a league fixture since late November.
They were also bundled out of the Nedbank Cup by third tier Natal United on post match penalties last month.
