Suarez feared bite had ruined career

Luis Suarez admitted Monday he feared his infamous biting of Italy's Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup had ruined his career.
"I felt I had ruined my career. To begin with, I just locked myself in with my family. Afterwards, I reflected on it, apologised, and felt liberated," he told Catalan television channel TV3.
Suarez was particularly worried that the incident would lead Barcelona to drop their interest in him. However, Barca went through with the signing from Liverpool in July, despite the controversial striker receiving a four-month ban from world governing body Fifa.
"I cried with happiness when the deal went through. I was delighted at the commitment and support they were showing me ... This has been a complicated time for me, because of a mistake that I made."
Suarez's ban ends on Saturday, just in time for him to play in El Clasico away to Real Madrid.
He said he will not be annoyed if he is not in the starting line-up of coach Luis Enrique, "because that is not the way I am. I just want to help my teammates and feel like a proper player again.
