Loew gives Kiessling hope of recall

Germany coach Joachim Loew is not ruling out a return to the national side of Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling.
Loew said on Sunday he would "never write off" Kiessling and would be talking to the player, who was the Bundesliga's top scorer last season but has not featured for the national team since the 2010 World Cup.
"Stefan Kiessling is a forward who has performed very well in the Bundesliga. I will have talks with him and discuss a few things internally," Loew said on German television at the draw in Cologne for the last 16 of the German Cup.
Loew has lost Mario Gomez of Fiorentina to a knee injury and may have to do without Lazio striker Miroslav Klose for World Cup qualifiers against Ireland on October 11 and Sweden four days later.
Klose has undergone surgery to a foot injury and remains a doubt for the qualifiers.
"We will have to see in the course of the week whether there is any hope (for Klose)," said Loew, who will Friday name his squad for the qualifiers.
Borussia Moenchengladbach's Max Kruse is seen as an alternative up front, or Klose might try playing without an orthodox forward. In a World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in March, midfielder Mario Goetze played as a withdrawn striker.
