Romanian chases Polokwane City job

Romanian Mario Marinica has thrown his hat in the ring and is being considered for the vacant Polokwane City as the Limpopo club continues to take their time over the appointment of a replacement for Duncan Lechesa.
Marinica was formerly in charge of Black Leopards for a spell in 2009, and has been trumpeting his familiarity with the surroundings in Polokwane and his knowledge of the PSL.
He is one of a number of coaches being considered by chairman Johnny Mogaladi, who had said previously that he wanted his new man in place by October 1.
That deadline has now past and the club has set a new date of the league fixture against BidVest Wits on October 23.
Marinica is believed to be among the favourites, though he has little pedigree of coaching in top-flight football and lasted just over a month at Leopards before returning to Romania for family reasons.
His CV has seen him work across Europe, notably in the academies of English giants Arsenal and Kagisho Dikgacoi’s current club Crystal Palace.
He is the holder of a Uefa Pro Licence, the highest football coaching qualification, and has spent much of the last decade providing tactical analysis of opponents to clubs in Germany and Romania.
The Citizens have been led in the last two matches by their Brazilian fitness trainer, Eduardo Schoeler, who was assisted by team manager Bernard Molekwa.
The pair did well with the side, a narrow 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates and a first PSL win in the 2-0 success over Ajax Cape Town saw them earn their first points of the campaign.
