Wales manager Chris Coleman suffered more injury misery on Monday as five players were forced to withdraw from his squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium.
Coleman was already certain to be without four key figures after Gareth Bale, Joe Ledley and Joe Allen were all ruled out, while Brighton's Andrew Crofts is suspended.
But the injury list has now grown even longer following the withdrawals of Swansea left-back Ben Davies, Wolves right-back Sam Ricketts, Celtic defender Adam Matthews, Crystal Palace centre-back Danny Gabbidon and midfielder Jack Collison, who is currently on loan at Bournemouth from West Ham.
Davies suffered a suspected hamstring injury late in Swansea's 2-0 defeat at Southampton on Sunday, while Matthews hurt his collarbone in Saturday's win over Motherwell and Gabbidon missed Palace's defeat at Liverpool with a hamstring problem.
The Football Association of Wales confirmed a total of nine replacements have been drafted in; Lloyd Isgrove (Southampton), Owain Tudur Jones (Hibernian), Danny Alfei (Swansea), James Wilson (Bristol City), Rhoys Wiggins (Charlton), Jermaine Easter (Millwall), Sean MacDonald (Bournemouth), David Cotterill (Doncaster) and Ashley Richards (Huddersfield).
Coleman will also need to monitor the fitness of Swansea defender Ashley Williams, who has been troubled recently by an ankle ligament problem.
Wales, already out of the running to reach next year's World Cup in Brazil, play Macedonia in Cardiff on Friday before heading to Brussels to face Group A leaders Belgium in their final qualifier the following Tuesday.
