Dutchman Gertjan Verbeek was introduced on Tuesday as the new coach at struggling German Bundesliga club Nuremberg with a deal until 2015.
"I fell in love in the club," said the 51-year-old coach at his introductory press conference on Tuesday in Nuremberg.
Verbeek, who most recently led Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, takes over two weeks after Michael Wiesinger was sacked. Verbeek's first match on the sidelines will be Friday at VfB Stuttgart.
Nuremberg are winless on the season after nine rounds and sit 16th on the Bundesliga table after a 1-1 draw last weekend at Eintracht Frankfurt with Roger Prinzen as interim coach.
The nine-time German champions also lost in the first round of this season's German Cup under Wiesinger to second division side Sandhausen.
The spot became vacant on October 7 when Wiesinger was sacked following Nuremberg's 5-0 home defeat to Hamburg a day earlier.
Verbeek, who also has coached at Feyenoord Rotterdam and Heerenveen, is considered a strict manager. He won the job over the likes of compatriot Rene Meulensteen and Austrian national team boss Marcel Koller.
"We decided in favour of Gertjan Verbeek and not against the others," club chairman Martin Bader said Monday night on Sky Sports News HD.
Coaches haven't survived long with Nuremberg as Verbeek is the fifth new manager since Hans Meyer guided the club to the 2007 German Cup title.
Meyer was sacked in February 2008 and replaced by Thomas von Heesen, who lasted until August 2008. Michael Oenning was brought in and coached until December 2009, when Dieter Hacking took over. Hacking was sent packing on December 22, 2012 and replaced by Wiesinger, who saw the axe on October 7.
