Police investigate Kumbela for violence

Congolese striker Domi Kumbela is being investigated by German police on suspicion of domestic assault, a spokesman confirmed on Wednesday.
Police were called to the 29-year-old Eintracht Braunschweig striker's house at 1730 GMT on Tuesday because of a disturbance.
"There is are charges against Mr Kumbela and also his girlfriend relating to the allegations," a Braunschweig police spokesman told SID, an AFP subsidiary.
"There was apparently reciprocal violence. Both blame each other."
Both Kumbela and bottom side Braunschweig refused to comment on the allegations until the police investigation is complete.
"We have full confidence in Domi and he will be taking part in training and matches until then," said Braunschweig's director of sport Marc Arnold.
In December last year, Kumbela was included in the Democratic Republic of Congo's preliminary squad for this year's African Cup of Nations in South Africa, but declined the call-up to concentrate on his club football.
This is not the first time Kumbela has fallen foul of the law in Germany having been given a 14-month suspended sentence in 2009 for an incident when he beat up his pregnant girlfriend and a doorman in a nightclub.
The same year he was fined €3500 by a court in Paderborn for assault on a man in a separate incident while in 2005 he was thrown out of Kaiserslautern's reserve team for cannabis use.
