Al Ahly director Wael Gomaa has assured that they will sign two foreign players in January to boost the team in their campaign for the Egypt Premier League and Caf Champions League.
The Cairo-based club have two foreign players -- Saladin Said of Ethiopia and Moussa Yedan of Burkina Faso.
But Al Ahly may have to axe one of them if they bring in two new foreigners.
"We are in advanced talk with two African players. One of the them is a striker and the other is a midfielder. Add to that we will sign an Egyptian defender," Gomaa said.
"The team need new blood especially as the season is too long and tough. I can promise our fans that we will sign very good deals."
Sources revealed that there are a long list of players on Al Ahly's radar, including Ivorian player Zoumana Kone, who plays for Moroccan side Hassania Union Sport Agadir, and Esperance striker Yannick N'Djeng.
