Frimpong salutes CS Sfaxien

Former Club Sportif Sfaxien striker, Joetex Frimpong, has hailed the team’s success at Lubumbashi, where they secured an unprecedented third Caf Confederation title at the expense of home side, TP Mazembe.
Sfaxien won the first leg 2-0 and scored a late goal to finish 1-2 after Mazembe had scored two first half goals.
The final ended 3-2 on aggregate in favour of the Tunisians.
“That’s football for you.
“I must confess that Sfaxien were lucky and it shows determination on the side of the players.
“It reminds me of what happened when Sfaxien lost the 2006 Caf Champions League to Ahly. We already had an away goal advantage and I scored the goal to leave Cairo with a draw.
“However, we lost to a cruel late goal in front of our passionate fans, in Sfax.
“Ahly were lucky to score a late goal during injury time when everyone thought the match was heading to a goalless situation to give us the cup on the away goal rule,” he said to SuperSport.com.
It’s double celebration for Sfaixen after winning the Tunisian title for first time in eight years back in May.
Ironically, the Tunisians were eliminated from the contest by Nigerian side, Enugu Rangers, but returned after Rangers were guilty of fielding an ineligible player.
Frimpong had earlier won the Champions League twice with Nigerian side, Enyimba, and played his third Caf Champions League finals with the “Arab Juventus” before heading for Europe.
