Hamm joins Roma board - club

American football icon Mia Hamm and Cam Neely, the president of ice-hockey club Boston Bruins, joined AS Roma's board of directors on Monday.
The nominations were announced in a statement by the Serie A club to the Milan financial stock exchange.
The 42-year-old Hamm, who is now retired, helped the USA women's team to two World Cup titles and has twice won the women's Fifa player of the year award, in 2001 and 2002.
Neely, a former player with the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins, is now a president with the former National Hockey League (NHL) club.
Roma was taken over by a group of executives from Boston three years ago and is now led by president, American James Pallotta.
The Giallorossi last won the Serie A title in 2001 but in recent seasons have returned to the forefront of Italian football.
Roma finished runners-up last season behind Juventus and, currently three points behind Juve after eight games, are considered the Bianconeri's biggest challengers for this season's scudetto.
