Burkina Faso will go out in search of maximum points when they host Gabon in their 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier at the Stade du 4-Août in Ouagadougou on Saturday, kick-off at 17h30 (CAT).
The Stallions are currently in second place in Group E with nine points, one point behind group leaders Congo.
This means that Paul Put’s side will need to beat Gabon and hope that Congo will drop some points when they visit Niger in Niamey, also on Saturday.
Burkina Faso go into this game looking to continue with their winning momentum following their back-to-back 1-0 wins over Niger and Congo.
However, Gabon will not make things easy as they also stand a chance to top the group and reach the next stage of the qualifiers.
The Panthers are currently in third place with seven points and could clinch top spot should they beat the Stallions and Congo lose to Niger, depending on the number of goals scored in both matches.
Gabon thrashed Niger 4-1 in their previous qualifier mid-June and will be looking to continue with their scoring form against a side that has kept two consecutive clean sheets.
When the two sides met in Libreville in June last year, Remy Ebanega scored the only goal of the match to hand Gabon a 1-0 win.
2013 Africa Cup of Nations star Jonathan Pitroipa has scored two goals so far in the group stages and will be expected to make things happen for his side in the absence of the injured Alain Traore.
Gabon, on the other hand, will be spurred on by the presence of Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who netted from the penalty spot during the win over Niger.
