For the first time in over two years, Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien trained with Ghana as they started preparations for Friday's World Cup qualifying Group D finale in Accra on Monday.
Essien last played for Ghana over two years ago before retiring to focus on his club career after a succession of debilitating knee injuries.
However the 30-year-old only took part in the group's running sessions while remaining on the sidelines when the players did ball work.
Among those who participated were captain Asamoah Gyan, Albert Adomah, Rashid Sumaila, Mahatma Otoo, Kwadwo Asamoah, Jonathan Mensah, Razak Braimah, Fatau Dauda, Rabiu Mohammed, Christian Atsu, Mubarak Wakaso and Awal Mohammed.
Other players, including Schalke star Kevin-Prince Boateng, are expected to arrive today and be involved in tomorrow's double session. Ghana need just a point from the game to win their group and advance to the ten-team play-offs.
