AmaZulu ready to pick themselves up

Absa Premiership bottom side AmaZulu head coach Steve Barker says his side will come back from the mid-season break raring to go.
"We are glad that 2014 has passed and we are looking forward to a new year, hoping that we are able to move away from the dreaded relegation zone," Barker said on Wednesday.
Usuthu took their foot off the gas in the first round of the Premiership and were languishing at the bottom of the table with a disappointing nine points to show for their 16 league matches.
"It was a tough first round and we have learned a lot from the matches we played," Barker said.
"We did try to get it right in the last three games but we were unlucky, especially against Moroka Swallows where we dominated the game but could not finish them off.
The Durban outfit had been affected by injuries to key players Mark van Heerden, Robyn Johannes and John Arwuah. Barker, who tasted his first –and the club's only – win against his former team University of Pretoria in his first game in charge, said it was important to reinforce the side with more players if they are to move away from the relegation zone.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Bryce Moon and goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands were two of the players being linked to Barker's team, and the coach was optimistic that they would add a new dimension to the struggling side.
"We have two weeks to go before the end of the transfer window period. It would be good to have the players now as we could be working on the tactical aspects of the game with them," Barker said.
"But these things take time so we simply have to be patient. In the next two days, we will be making an official announcement about who is coming and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have the players in our stable as quickly as possible."
There was an eight-point gap between AmaZulu and second-from-bottom Platinum Stars and Barker said it was vital for his team to win the first two matches when the league resumed.
"We have to win those first two games for us to start believing that we can move away from the bottom," he said.
"The players are confident and you wouldn't say we are the team at the bottom of the table as the spirit has never been low."
