Nsanzuwrimo Ramadhan can now coach Big Bullets during the 2015 Champions League after his origin country’s Burundi Football Association granted him a Caf B Licence following the Confederation of African Football’s rejection of his initial coaching badges.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) FAM technical director John Kaputa and club licensing manager Casper Jangale confirmed that the Burundian, whose predecessor Elia Kananji was demoted for lacking a Caf qualification, was also found wanting on his qualifications.
He had a certificate earned from coaching course which Caf organized in Burundi in 1992. We wrote Caf seeking their clarification and they recognized that as a mere certificate of attendance,” Jangale explained on Wednesday.
“Caf showed their displeasure with the Burundi Football Association that such a senior coach did not attain a Caf qualification. Looking at several factors, they were thus mandated to hold a crash course for him in Burundi and they have awarded him Caf B licence.”
FAM established that Ramadhan papers were lacking when the Bullets submitted his badges alongside squad list in view of the strict licensing procedures. Coaches without Caf qualifications can coach in the continental competitions, but are not allowed to sit on the technical bench on match day.
It was on the same grounds that the Bullets pushed Kananji down the ladder as a second assistant coach. CAF had no qualms with Ramadhan’s deputy Llyod Nkhwazi who holds a Caf C licence which is below the B licence and the highest A licence.
Bullets general secretary Harold Fote said FAM could explain better on the issue, adding that the through the licensing system the club has “learnt a lot that coaching licenses need to be renewed from time to time” and Ramadhan’s had expired, hence his travel to Burundi where he was granted a Caf licence.
Kaputa confirmed that he scrutinized Ramadhan’s initial paper which was not worth a full badge noting that every Caf qualification has a serial number and expiry date, upon which one is required to upgrade into the next level. After the A licence there is highest professional licence.
