Eaglets soar into quarterfinals

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets cruised past Iran 4-1 in one of the round of 16 matches at the ongoing Fifa Under-17 World Cup on Tuesday to set up a quarterfinal meeting with Uruguay.
Samuel Okon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Muhammed and Musa Yahaya got the goals for the Nigerians before Ali Gholizadeh scored Iran's consolation.
Iheanacho barely allowed the game to settle down when he tried from range but his effort went off target to the relief of Iran's goalkeeper, Mahdi Amini.
The Eaglets from then on swung into full gear moving swiftly on and off the ball with Yahaya orchestrating most of the moves from the middle with Iheanacho's help.
On 23 minutes, a sweeping move by the Nigerians led to the opening goal. Yahaya threading the ball nicely into the path of wing back Okon who just rolled it past Amini.
And before the Nigerian fans could settle down from celebrating Okon's goal, Iheanacho struck with his sweet left foot two minutes later.
Taiwo Awoniyi, who has been starting in the absence of injured Success Isaac, lined the ball for Iheanacho, who side-footed from the edge of the box for Nigeria's second of the evening.
But Iheanacho had to make way for Chidera Ezeh owing to a knock and that substitution of the Nigerian playmaker did not halt the offensive play of the Africans.
Just before the break, Nigeria captain, Muhammed made it three-nil. The right-back pounced on a poor defending to smash home his second goal of the tournament.

After taking a three-goal lead into the break, Nigeria somehow took their foot off the pedals but kept it tight at the back.
In the 76th minute, Yahaya deservedly got his goal to give Nigeria a four-goal lead and also put his name among those with four goals at the tournament.
However, the game was not done with goalscoring as Iran's substitute, Gholizadeh got a sight of goal from range and hit the ball hard past Nigeria goalkeeper Dele Alampasu who stood no chance of stopping his pile-driver.
But Gholizadeh's goal was just a consolation as Nigeria will face Uruguay in the last eight this Saturday.
