Bloemfontein Celtic will continue their camp in Gauteng on Wednesday when they take on Orlando Pirates in their latest friendly match.
The Free State Stars defeated University of Pretoria in two training matches on Monday – one in the morning and the second in the afternoon – as they work towards a meeting against Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership on February 11. It has become tradition for Celtic to camp in Gauteng, where they train at the higher altitude.
Wednesday’s match against Pirates gives them another opportunity to work on their readiness for the restart of the league. The side will have another tough encounter on Friday when they play BidVest Wits, completing their programme before they head back to Bloemfontein.
“The main aim is to keep players psychologically fit through game time situations, more especially contesting against other PSL teams,” team manager John Maduka said. “This also serves as a team building session with players bonding, gelling and getting used to the system introduced by coach Clinton (Larsen).”
