Roma expect little trouble from visiting Sassuolo at the weekend as they chase Serie A leaders Juventus, who sit three points clear of the Giallorossi ahead of a tougher affair away to Fiorentina.
Last year in October, La Viola beat the title holders 4-2 in the first of only two defeats in the season, delighting fans at the Artemio Franchi with a memorable rally after the Bianconeri led 2-0 at halftime.
On Friday, the Florence hosts will still be without the recovering Giuseppe Rossi, who scored a 14-minute hat-trick in last year's win, and will rely up front on Mario Gomez.
The German striker found the net last weekend in 4-0 win at Cagliari, ending a drought of about nine months as he nears full form after a long battle with injury.
"The comeback of the past season was very good," Montenegro defender Stefan Savic said this week. "I was very happy about the 4-2 win, also because the Bianconeri [then] conceded few goals [23] in the whole season.
"I hope that Mario Gomez decides the game, although it does not matter who is going to score. The important thing is to do anything possible to win the game."
After 13 games, Juve have conceded only five goals, and also have the best attack with 30 scored.
"They are strong. After all, they won the last three titles," Savic said. "We know them and we are trying to study a way to block them."
Coming from four straight wins, with a 14-1 for and against record, Juve were only partly convincing last weekend as they edged Torino 2-1 thanks to a long-range winner from Andrea Pirlo in stoppage time.
Their sights are also set on a Champions League home tie to Atletico Madrid Tuesday. The Bianconeri need one point to move into the knock-out stage, and could snatch first place from the already qualified Spanish champions by beating them by a two-goal margin at the Juventus Stadium.
Roma welcome Sassuolo Saturday and but also have a Champions League distraction as they need a positive result against Manchester City on Wednesday to ensure progression.
Torino and Palermo also meet Saturday, third-place Napoli open the Sunday programme at home to Empoli ahead of Genoa v AC Milan, Atalanta v Cesena, Parma v Lazio and the late Inter Milan v Udinese.
Closing the 14th round on Monday is Cagliari v Chievo and Verona v Sampdoria.
