Barker backs Usuthu to go on winning run

Buoyed by their stunning 5-2 success at SuperSport United last Sunday, AmaZulu coach Steve Barker says his side has the quality to win all their remaining league games.
It is a bold prediction from the Usuthu boss, especially with BidVest Wits (home) and Kaizer Chiefs (away) to come, but with six of their remaining 10 games at home, including against fellow strugglers Platinum Stars and Free State Stars, Barker is clearly feeling more confident.
“I think this victory was just a testimony of all the hard work we have been putting in of late. I think the difference this time is that we used the opportunities we had created,” he told reporters.
“If we continue putting in such performances, we can win all the matches that we have remaining in this league.”
Barker does admit that his side are still battling in defence, but says he is pleased with the contribution made by the attacking players.
“I am happy with the strikers, the only area to work on is the defence, we cannot be conceding soft goals like those because it’s not every match where we will rise and score five goals,” he said.
Next up for AmaZulu is a meeting with Barker’s uncle Clive as they make an away trip to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday.
“The confidence from the boys is high and we have what it takes to go back to winning ways. Yes the other teams ahead of us are not doing well but we must focus on our journey.”
