FC Taraba produce stunner at Akwa Utd

Upstarts in the Glo Premier League, FC Taraba put up one of the best performances of match day two to leave Akwa United with the full points after a 1-0 win on Sunday.
Akwa United were favourites going into this clash after they pulled off a 0-0 draw at Enyimba on match day one.
Playing without one of their top strikers, Luter Iyorhe, the Jalingo club had to rely on Bobby Abel who caused Akwa United all sorts of trouble.
It was Usman Mohammed who finished off a fine move in the 16th minute to give FC Taraba a shock lead. Abdulmalik Mohammed provided the assist.
Akwa United busied themselves doing all the attacking but showed no cutting edge in the final third to produce that goal to level things at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The business end of the match proved to be a nightmare for Akwa United as they pressed the destructive button just seconds into the restart.
Abel Was once again the man in pulling the strings for FC Taraba as he was criminally stopped by Akwa United goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode just once the box.
Kayode saw a straight red card for his act, leaving Akwa United disadvantaged numerically.
Any chance of Akwa United drawing level in the game evaporated eight minutes to the end of the contest when Godspower Igudia received the marching order for using his elbow on FC Taraba goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ibilo.
FC Taraba are now the only team in the top flight this season with two wins out of two and that has put them top of the standings.
Kwara United are now second after they defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1. The Harmony Boys raced into a two-goal through Evans Iyoro and Segun Alebiosu while Ibrahim Mustapha halved the lead just before the hour-mark.
Sunshine Stars left it late before they could overcome one of the newly-promoted sides, Gabros FC 2-1. Centre-back Stephen Eze gave them the lead in the 25th minute before Chukwudi Stephens converted from the spot inside the last 20 minutes.
But Tunde Adeniji popped up to score the winner inside added time to break the hearts of the Gabros contingent.
Esosa Igbinoba and Ibrahim Ibrahim scored the goals for Nasarawa United as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists.
Rangers also had to wait till the last five minutes to defeat Sharks after Bode Daniel's goal from a direct free kick cancelled out Razak Adegbite's 37th minute strike. Onoriode Marshal Odah then produced a late finish on 86 minutes to ensure the Flying Antelopes avoided sharing the points.
