Orlando Pirates will take on the taxmen when they make their bow in African club competition later this month.
Pirates had a bye into the second round of the African Confederation Cup but did not know the identity of their opponent until Saturday when Uganda Revenue Authority clinched their place in the next round with a 4-2 aggregate win over Elgeco Plus of Madagascar.
The Ugandans won 1-0 away in the second leg in Antananarivo after taking a precarious 3-2 lead to the Indian Ocean island after the first leg in Kampala in mid-February.
Their goal on Saturday came early from their Uganda international striker Robert Sentongo but he was later sent off which means he will not play in the next game against Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
URA also had a player sent off in the first leg – defender Jonathan Mugabi, who has now completed his mandatory one-match suspension.
Pirates will host the first leg of the second round tie on March 14 and then travel to Kampala on the first weekend of April for the return game.
Uganda Revenue Authority were started as a company side less than 20 years ago and quickly worked their way up the divisions and into Uganda’s premier league.
TP Mazembe Englebert of the Democratic Republic of Congo warmed up at the weekend for their upcoming African Champions meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns by playing a friendly with the Zambia club Nkana FC, who they beat 2-1 in Lubumbashi at the weekend.
