Nigeria’s Under-17 women team (Flamingoes) head coach, Bala Nkiyu has said he is in dark over the strength of the South African ladies
Flamingoes will host their South African counterparts in Abuja in March for the first leg final clash of the African qualifying race for 2016 Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.
Nkiyu said the key to success in both legs of the qualifiers is adequate preparation which is ongoing right now in Abuja.
“I do not know anything about the South Africans but that will be taken care of as we progress to the matchday.
“Right now we must continue doing the needful which is intensifying preparations for the crucial clash.
“We have advantage of playing first at home so we must put our acts perfectly right to achieve convincing result.
“Of course, the reverse fixture in Johannesburg will certainly be tough but we could soften the ground with good performance right here at our backyard.
“All the players called for the match are in camp as at Sunday we allowed the players to unwind from the tedious trip so we will commence training in earnest on Tuesday and take it up from there to matchday.
“We want to be at the World Cup in Jordan at the expense of South Africa and we must work hard to achieve the lofty dream,” said the Plateau United head coach to supersport.com.
The Nigerians pummeled their Namibian counterparts 9-0 on aggregate while South Africa got World Cup qualifying bye over Zambia to pave the way for crucial matchup.
