Chiefs face tricky Celtic away

Kaizer Chiefs will enter the lions’ den when they take on a Bloemfontein Celtic side seeking to recover from an indifferent start to the season when they face off in an Absa Premiership match at the Free Stadium on Tuesday evening, kick-off at 7pm.
Celtic suffered a second defeat of the league season when they went down 2-0 away to University of Pretoria this past weekend.
The Bloemfontein side has had two home encounters this season: a loss to Mamelodi Sundowns and a draw with regional rivals Free State Stars.
Phunya Sele Sele are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with four points from as many matches.
Their forward Ruzaigh Gamildien is adamant that a match against Chiefs is the right tonic to get their season back on track after the early setbacks.
“We are at home in this encounter and what matters most is that we should make it count,” said the 24-year-old.
“It is no secret that we are counting on home support for this encounter, but essentially we are also ready with a game plan.
“People might say that we are struggling, but we are just trying to find our feet and once we do we will be on a good run because we also have some players returning from injury layoffs.”
Chiefs returned to winning ways on the weekend when they defeated Maritzburg United 2-0 at home.
The Naturena based side’s two away matches this season have produced one win (1-0 against Mpumalanga Black Aces) and one loss (3-1 against SuperSport United).
The defending Absa Premiership champions are placed fifth on the log with seven points from four matches.
Chiefs midfielder Lucky Baloyi has warned his teammates not to be deceived by Celtic’s poor recent form and should rather concentrate on catching up with the current pace setters.
“It is always a tough encounter against Celtic in any match anywhere, but when you have to play them in their backyard it is more challenging,” says the 22-year-old Mokopane-born player.
“Our win this past weekend was a good result for us and we need to build on that and be consistent.
“What worked for us last season was our consistency and being consistent is the difference in being successful.”
Last season Stuart Baxter’s men took four points off Phunya Sele Sele, drawing 0-0 at home before claiming an emphatic 3-0 away win.
