Eagles played like champions

Daniel Amokachi believes that the Super Eagles put up a display befitting of African champions to edge Ethiopia's Walya Antelopes 2-1 in a 2014 Fifa World Cup first leg playoff in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
The Nigerian assistant coach though admitted that the Super Eagles had "a little bit of scare" from the East Africans in the opening half, but he insisted that the performance of the team showed they are worthy champions on the continent.
The former Everton and Besiktas man, who is assistant to Stephen Keshi, also cautioned that there is still one leg of the World Cup qualification playoff to vie for in November.
He stated that the contest is not yet done and dusted until the second leg in Calabar is concluded next month.
"We came out in full force after the pressure in the first 45 minutes gave us a little bit of scare. In the second half we showed how African champions we are after going down one goal and scoring two in less than 20 minutes.
"But it's not over yet. We still have 90 more minutes to play in Nigeria and then we can celebrate some more," said Amokachi.
Nigeria will play hosts to Ethiopia in Calabar in the decisive leg of the World Cup qualifier on November 16.
