Martinez targets return to Bayern training

Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez is hoping to return to full training with the European champions next week, five weeks after surgery for a groin injury.
"I think, and hope, that in the course of the next week I will be able to take part in team training again," the 25-year-old Spain star said in an interview on the club's website.
Having helped Bayern lift the Uefa Super Cup against Chelsea by scoring the equaliser in Prague before the game went to penalties at the end of August, Martinez underwent surgery and has been in rehab training every since.
"I am training now back on grass, I take part in running and sprint training and also practise again with the ball," he said, having cost Bayern Munich a Bundesliga record €40 million in August 2012.
"Overall, I can be very happy."
His comments contradicted a media report on Wednesday that he has suffered a new knee injury.
Bayern are top of the Bundesliga by a point and next host Mainz 05 on October 19
