Eagles gear up for Pointe Noire battle

Nigeria's Super Eagles are stepping up their preparation for the all important clash with the Red Devils of Congo as players have started gathering at the Bolton White Hotel camp.
Aaron Samuel, Ogenyi Onazi, Sone Aluko and Oboabona Godfrey were the early birds in camp as the Eagles will look to get the maximum points on board in the last two games of the Afcon 2015 qualifiers.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, who welcomed the players into camp, said the players are fired up for the game and he means business when training starts.
"We've played with ourselves for sometime, now it's time for business and we have to get the job done and no kidding with players and officials from Monday,"Keshi said.
"We have said we can qualify the country and we are ready for that task, now it's time for action and less talk.
Enyimba midfielder Kingsley Sokari has been called up to the main Super Eagles ahead of the crunch tie in Pointe Noire after his scintillating display in the international friendly against Ghana and is likely to replace the crocked Michael Babatunde.
The Super Eagles were scheduled to train at the Warri Stadium which has an artificial turf which is what the team will face in Congo, but that also looks dicey as logistics related to the travelling arrangements are still being sorted out.
Sources at the Nigeria Football Federation told supersport.com that the team is scheduled to leave for Congo on Thursday on a chartered flight prior to the game on Saturday.
"The training in Warri which was initially planned looks shaky because of the travelling arrangements. I can't say for certain how it will work.
"I can't give you a definite answer. Maybe by the end of today (Tuesday) things will be clearer.
"However, there are plans to airlift the team to Congo with a chartered flight. They should be in Congo Thursday so that they can have a feel of the turf in Pointe Noire before the game."the source revealed.
Nigeria have a herculean task ahead in their quest for a place at next year's Caf/Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles are in third place in Group A after chalking up four points from four matches and will need to get maximum points in the last two games in the group.
An away trip against the Red Devils of Congo in Pointe Noire on November 15 will be followed up by the last home game against South Africa at the newly commisioned Akwa Ibom Stadium on November 19 to round off Nigeria's qualifying series.
