The demise of former Nigeria goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare has continued to reverberate throughout the nation's football fraternity as his former teammates continue to eulogise the goalkeeper.
Agbonavbare died in a hospital in Alcala de Henares in Spain after battling with cancer for some time.
Moses Kpakor, who was a teammate of the deceased in the national team and at BCC Lions of Gboko said Agbonavbare will be missed.
"I was shocked when I heard the news. I didn't even know he was ill," Kpakor told supersport.com.
"Willie (Agbonavbare) was a gentleman and a top professional. I'm not saying this because he is dead. He was truly a nice fellow.
"He was very quiet and unassuming off the training pitch but always came alive when action starts."
Agbonavbare was part of the golden generation that qualified Nigeria for their first ever World Cup in 1994.
He went on to play over a hundred games for Spanish side Rayo Vallecano between 1990 and 1996.
Kpakor, who was almost in tears as he spoke to supersport.com, says the former Abiola Babes goalkeeper will be missed and the authorities need to do more to keep tabs on former players.
"We were teammates at Abiola Babes with him in 1987 and we met again at BCC Lions of Gboko before he travelled out to Spain from there," the former Super Eagles midfielder said.
"He will surely be missed. We need to keep tabs on our former players to know where they are and what they are doing."
