Must win for Mali and Guinea

Mali and Guinea will both be looking for their first wins in the 2015 African cup of Nations when they lock horns in their final Group D match on Wednesday night in Malabo.
Kick-off is at 8:00pm.
This is a must win match for these two neighbouring countries if each one of them wants to qualify to the knockout stages of this tournament taking place in Equatorial Guinea.
Guinea played a 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast in the opening match, followed with another 1-1 draw against Cameroon. On the other hand Mali did nothing different as they also played a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in their opening match and another one goal draw against Ivory Coast.
Another interesting factor about these two teams is that they both came to this tournament as underdogs in the Group D. Many had put their money on Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
If there is one player that will be troublesome to the Mali team it will be captain Ibrahim Traore. Speaking in a press conference he said he believes that they will walk away victorious after this match.
“Mali is a good team who always qualify for the Africa Cup,” said Traore.
“They get some good results and often reach the last four.
“We know that like us they don’t have a lot of pressure as everyone thought it would be a two-horse race between Cameroon and Ivory Coast.”
Traore added that he is aware that they are a step away from qualifying to the knockout stages and so they will forget about the previous matches and focus on the current match.
“It is going to be a tough game and may be the toughest of the three as they know us very well,” he added.
“We are one step away from qualification. We forget all the rest to concentrate and have a great game to qualify. I am certain that we will qualify, otherwise there will be no point to be here.”
Mali captain Seydou Keita said he is very disappointed in his side’s previous matches of which they should have won.
“We are very disappointed. When you look at our two games against Cameroon and the Ivory Coast, it is only small details that cost us the win,” said Keita.
“Once more, we gave up two deserved points.”
Going to this match Keita said he is aware of what Guinea is capable of and they will not undermine them.
“We do not underrate the Guinea team because we know they can be very dangerous but we have mapped out a plan to handle them,” concluded Keita.
