Konadu composed over Nigeria threat

Ghana boss Maxwell Konadu has given the assurance that his side do not fear Nigeria's stats.

The coach says he would do everything possible to overcome Nigeria in Wednesday’s 2014 CHAN semifinal clash at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The coach said his team was well prepared to face the Nigerians, who perfectly recovered from a 3-0 deficit to beat Morocco 4-3 in extra time in their quarterfinal clash.

The Black Stars also secured a difficult 1-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday night after Kwabena Adusei converted a penalty kick to hand Ghana a 1-0 victory.

At the post-match press conference, Coach Maxwell Konadu flatly dismissed suggestions that the Nigerians were in a much better shape than his team, insisting that the Black Stars were well positioned to secure the ticket to the grand finale on February 1.

“They have been playing well” he admitted. “But that doesn’t mean they would ride over us. We will be well prepared for them. There is no way we are going to give them the chance to do what they want,” Konadu vowed.

“We are capable of beating them. I am sure we will do that,” Konadu said before deriding remarks that Ghana’s low scoring rate could be a major stumbling block to his team’s success.

“It is important to acknowledge that we have been winning. That is why we are progressing in this competition. The progress comes as a result of wins and the wins come because we have been scoring. Even if it is one goal that is what has brought us to this point,” he said.

Konadu maintained that his team has the determination to succeed, adding that the the players' unyielding attitude was one of the things propelling them to achieve great things.

“You are right. Back home not many people have confidence in this team but the players have resolved to prove everybody wrong. They have been working hard and that is what is steering us to success. No matter what the situation is, we will get the best out of it.
