Bassey relishes U-23 invitation

KAS EUPEN midfielder, Anthony Bassey, is excited with his invitation to Nigeria's Under-23 team.
Bassey is one of the 47 Europe-based players recently invited to the team by head coach, Samson Siasia.
"My dream has been to play for Nigeria and I'm delighted with the invitation to fulfill my childhood ambition.
"This is a great opportunity for me after missing the chance to play for the Under-20 team last year.
"My team will release me if there is an official letter from the Nigeria Football Federation," the midfielder told supersport.com.
Scouted by ASPIRE Academy’s coaches during their programme in Nigeria, Bassey moved to Qatar to continue his football development.
The youngster also trained at ASIPRE’s facility in Dakar, Senegal, before completing the switch to EUPEN, which was fully acquired by the Doha-based academy, in 2012.
Interestingly, Bassey has made massive impact at the modest side to underscore his qualities.
EUPEN finished second in the Belgian second division last year, but lost out in the promotion race during the play-offs.
