The South African National Under-17 Men’s team, Amajimbos, are geared for their clash against Mali in 2015 CAF African Youth Championship on Thursday.
Amajimbos will face group leaders Mali in the second match of the tournament on 19 February 2015. Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 local time in Niamey, Niger. The match will be played at the Municipal Stadium.
Coach Molefi Ntseki said he was impressed with the output from the players at training as they worked on correcting some of the flaws from the 2-2 draw against Ivory Coast on Monday.
“We only managed to get one point from our opening match on Monday afternoon, but I was very impressed with the performance the boys displayed. We have had tactical sessions with the boys along with mental preparations going into our second match and training has been going well,” said Ntseki.
The Amajimbos coach added that it was important to focus on what the team was able to do.
“We are not going to focus too much on the Malians but rather on what we as a collective can achieve. The boys are fully prepared for the task at hand, and we believe they will give it their all come tomorrow afternoon. They are aware of where we currently lie and they too want to write their names in the history books of South Africa.”
