Former Golden Eaglets coach, John Obuh has said the nation’s campaigners must double its performance against Guinea.
The reigning world champions will confront the Guinean side on Wednesday in match day 2 clash of the ongoing 11th Africa Under-17 Championship in Niger Republic.
Eaglets overcame hosts, Niger 2-0 in Sunday’s opening match of the biennial cadet football championship.
Obuh said Eaglets must play better than they did against the hosts, Niger Republic to be assured of victory against the Guineans.
“Eaglets must play better than they performed against Niger Republic to be guaranteed of victory against Guinea.
“Of course, Guinea have proved they can play the game, too as shown in their hard fought win against Zambia so the idea to underrate anyone is completely off the table.
“Hosts have no impact at the cadet level maybe in the Under-20 and other higher cadres so winning the hosts, Niger shouldn’t make them complacent.
“The clash is certain to be tough but if Eaglets could get their act right they’ll be able to overrun the Guineans.
“They need that crucial win against Guinea to have their foot rooted in the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in Chile.
“It may be too early to set title agenda right now but to allow them progress with each match.
“I’ll like them to take each match at a moment, win the clash against Guinea move on to overcome Zambia then we can’t now put our foot down to say this is how far they can go,” said the former Flying Eagles and Enugu Rangers coach to supersport.com.
Eaglets were runners-up in the immediate past edition in Morocco behind winners, Ivory Coast.
