Kotoko opponents pull out of CCL

Asante Kotoko have earned a walkover in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League following the withdrawal of East End Lions.
The Ghanaian champions had been drawn to travel to face their Sierra Leonean counterparts in the first leg away encounter on the second weekend of February.
There have been initial rumours and speculations about East End Lions’ decision not to participate in the Caf Champions League this term due to the Ebola pandemic which has affected football in the West African country.
But the Sierra Leone FA, in a reply to a Ghana FA letter on behalf of Kotoko requesting the confirmation of the date, venue and time of the first leg game, responded with the official withdrawal of its representative from facing the Ghanaian champions.
Caf had last week, appointed Gambian referees – Maudo Jallow, Dickory Jawo (Assistant 1), Karamo Forbes (Assistant 2), Bakary Camara (Reserve Referee) and Gabon’s Ndoumbou Likouni Dieudonne as Match Commissioner for the encounter.
Though Caf is yet to officially assert to East End’s decision, Asante Kotoko look to advance to face one of St Georges and El Eguma in the next round of the 2015 Caf Champions League.
