Hearts of Oak coach Herbert Addo criticized his side’s ‘father Christmas’ defending in their FCPPL match day 12 away defeat to Inter Allies.
The Phobians after managing to keep their hosts at bay in the first half but succumbed to a 66th minute goal by Ropapa Mensah who took advantage of a slack defending between goalkeeper Luggard Tetteh and defender Philip Boampong to sneak home the opener.
Isaac Oduro’s well taken free-kick in the 83rd minute looked to be securing a vital away point for Hearts only for substitute Gockel Ahortor to hand Inter Allies all points with a long range strike in added time.
The veteran coach was obviously livid at the lapse in concentration displayed by his team.
“I feel very bad, not that we lost but the way we lost,” coach Addo bemoaned.
“We played father Christmas today. Look at the first goal, a mistake between the defender and the goalkeeper and then we gifted a goal.”
“But Inter Allies proved the hungrier side,” he admitted.
Hearts of Oak after the defeat, have moved down the log to 14th place with 15 points. They host Wa All Stars next in Accra on April 12.
