Kayiranga eyes Zamalek scalp

Newly-appointed Rayon Sports coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga hopes to commence his new role at the club beating Zamalek in the return leg of the Caf Confederations Cup first round tie this weekend.
“My immediate objective is to make sure we are not eliminated from the Caf Confederations Cup," Kayiranga told supersport.com.
We have to overturn the 3-1 goal deficit and I believe we can do this at home. However, it will not be easy because Zamalek is a strong team.”
The former Amavubi and Rayon Sports player, who has returned to Rayon Sports for a third time as coach until the end of the season, believes that the current squad has what it takes to see off the Egyptian giants.
Kayiranga supervised his first training session on Monday and his next objective as explained by Rayon Sports Chairman Théogène Ntampaka is to amass all the 15 points on offer in the remaining five games of the league season.
The Blues are currently seventh on the table standings with 27 points after they were docked three points as punishment from Fifa for failing to pay former coach Raoul Shungu a total amount of $31,158. The said amount was accumulated from unpaid wages and buying players and training kit and equipment from his personal money.
Kayiranga has acknowledged that the Blues’ only available opportunity for silverware this season is winning the Peace Cup which is expected to start in June. Winning the one-month long competition will see them qualify for the 2016 Caf Confederations Cup.
