Calls for new Appiah contract intensify

After getting Ghana to the World Cup, Kwesi Appiah must be rewarded with a new deal. And the argument is gaining grounds.
The latest to speak is former Ghana Football Association spokesperson, Randy Abbey. He has urged the FA's executive committee to act quickly.
Speaking on state-owned GTV’s Stage Africashow, Abbey argued that such a move will nip the pessimism that surrounds Kwesi Appiah’s ability to lead the Black Stars in the bud.
"He was tasked to qualify us to the World Cup and for me he has done it. In the past other coaches have used Ghana as a stepping stone to greater things after the World Cup and so we have to learn from that and tie Kwesi Appiah to a new contract.
"It helps his confidence and that of his players. I don’t think whatever happens at the World Cup should determine if he deserves another contract."
Kwesi Appiah was initially given a two year deal - expiring next year - at the beginning of his tenure.
