Former Mali international Frederic Kanoute has indicated he will not renew his contract at Chinese club Beijing Guoan which expires early next year and will likely hang up his boots thereafter.
The 36-year-old striker joined Guoan in June 2012 after seven seasons at Spanish side Sevilla where he scored 136 goals.
He won two UEFA Cups with the Sevillistas in 2006 and 2007, and was named African Footballer of the Year also in 2007.
Born in France to a French mother and a Malian father, Kanoute represented France in the junior category before switching allegiance in favour of the Malian Eagles in 2004, with whom he participated in three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring a total of 36 goals with the team before retiring in 2010.
