Thirty-four Ugandan football coaches successfully completed the Confederation of African Football (Caf) level B coaching course at the Njeru Technical Centre, Jinja at the weekend.
Of the 34 only Hadijah Namuyanja and Christine Wanyana are ladies. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, all Uganda Premier League (UPL) clubs will be required to employ only Caf B licenced head coaches.
“It is a requirement by Caf that all coaches who handle national teams and elite clubs hold Caf B coaching licenses,” Fufa technical director and chief coordinator of the course, Asuman Lubowa, told the federation website.
Currently, Uganda has 93 Caf ‘C’ coaches, one Caf ‘B’ (Majidah Nantanda) and six Caf ‘A’ holders who include Mujib Kasule, Tom Lwanga, Sam Timbe, Asuman Lubowa, Livingstone Kyambadde and Jackson Nyiima.
The results for the 34 Caf B coaches that have just completed their course are expected to be out by the end of February after verification and approval of Caf.
Caf coaching instructor, Tanzanian Sunday Kayuni, was the course assessor while Fufa education officer Jackson Nyiima, Kasule, Lwanga, Lubowa and Kyambadde were facilitators.
