New Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba says the six-time champions will not disappoint in the 2015 season.
Zanaco entered the New Year under new management following Numba’s promotion to head coach replacing his former boss Aggrey Chiyangi who is now technical advisor.
Numba’s reign began on a low note last Saturday when Zanaco lost 1-0 away in Kitwe to Power Dynamos in the 2015 Charity Shield semifinals.
The match was also Zanaco’s first competitive match of the season ahead of the March 14 Super League kickoff.
“I must say that I am impressed with the performance of the team, we played very well when you consider it was our first competitive game of the season,” Numba said.
“Looking at what the players have exhibited on the pitch we are going to have very good results this season.”
He added that opponents Power came into the semifinal tie with the advantage of playing a competitive game in the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup a fortnight ago against Al Khartoum of Sudan.
“Another thing is we are not in continental football and they are and started the season earlier than us,” Numba said.
“I think my team will be ready and will perform in the league this season.”
Zanaco finished third last season on 57 points, two points behind 2014 champions Zesco United.
The bankers last Super League win came in the 2012 season.
