United eye Ke Yona glory

Polokwane City will travel to Pretoria in honour of their Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash against SuperSport United on Wednesday night at Lucas Moripe Stadiu. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.

Although Amatsantsa A Pitori are fresh from a 2-0 win in the league over log leaders Kaizer Chiefs last week, the match against Kosta Papic’s men is a new ball game considering the fact that it’s a cup game.

On the other hand, Gordon Igesund’s men will be boosted by their recent Telkom Knockout Cup glory last year and will hope to repeat their good run in cup football.

Looking at the Rise and Shine camp, they’re fresh from a gutsy 2-1 win over Moroka Swallows in their last Absa Premiership encounter and they’ve had a week to prepare for this Ke Yona encounter.

According to the experienced Zambian-born defender, Joseph Musonda, they will not focus on United despite having good players.

“We know United have good players and a good coach but we don’t read too much into that – we’re focusing on our own game and qualities,” said Musonda.

“They’re doing well and will be motivated by the cup, but we’re there to cause an upset, we also want to do well in cup.

“We’ll play our normal game and we’ll take each game as it comes because we’ve prepared well with the week that we had.”

According to the Tshwane side’s coach, Igesund, he said he’s been watching other Ke Yon matches and their clash against the Citizens will be no different.

"I have been watching the other [Nedbank Cup] games with a lot of interest, they have all been very tight games and of course this one against Polokwane should be no different,” said Igesund.

"It will be a very tricky encounter for us. They are a very dangerous team, but we are playing at home, and the guys are on a high at the moment and looking good.

"Hopefully we will get a positive result, but we know we will have to work very hard for it."
