Free State Stars have announced that Belgian goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede will miss the next 10 days to two weeks with a muscle strain behind his knee.
The gloveman, who has had bad luck with injuries so far this season that have restricted him to just seven appearances, sat out the Nedbank Cup Last 32 defeat to BidVest Wits at the weekend.
But fears of another lengthy spell on the sidelines have been allayed with the news that he will be able to return to action sooner rather than later.
He is likely to sit our Stars’ fixtures against Maritzburg United (Feb 28), Orlando Pirates (March 4) and parent club Mamelodi Sundowns (March 7) though.
It has been a tough season for Ea LLa Koto with their goalkeepers having lost Burkina Faso international Daouda Diakite to a serious knee injury on the opening day of the league season.
He injured himself while taking a free-kick against Kaizer Chiefs and is not yet fit enough to resume duties.
Ayanda Mtshali has been in goal for much of the campaign, though Johnny Mathole played in the penalty shoot-out loss to Wits at the weekend.
