Swallows new signing goes for operation

Moroka Swallows’ new attacking signing Darren Lurie underwent surgery on his foot on Monday and will be out of action for the next six weeks.
It follows an injury he suffered last week after making his debut as a substitute for Swallows in their 3-2 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces in Soweto at the start of the month.
The 22-year-old Lurie will be out of action for the next six weeks, coach Zeca Marques said on Tuesday.
Lurie had been a junior at Platinum Stars and played some junior soccer in the US but was a surprise signing by Swallows last month. He has a one year contract with the club.
Swallows do have some good news on the injury front, however.
Their hard tackling Zimbabwean international fullback Gilbert Mapemba has started his recovery process after knee reconstruction surgery.
It will take a further six weeks before he is available again, the coach added.
Mapemba has had a series of knee injuries through his career, necessitating the surgery to fix the long standing problem.
