Tiote in court over licence charge

Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote appeared in court on Thursday charged with using a false Belgian driving licence.
Tiote is also facing charges of making a false statement to obtain car insurance and of fraud, for claiming he was in possession of a genuine Belgian licence.
Standing in the dock at Newcastle Crown Court and speaking through a French interpreter, the Ivory Coast international pleaded not guilty to the three charges.
The 27-year-old was granted unconditional bail and told his case will go to trial next month.
Tiote first played in Europe with Belgian club Anderlecht and also had a spell in Holland with FC Twente before signing for Newcastle in 2010 and emerging as one of the Premier League club's key performers.
