Cecafa satisfied with preparations

The Council of East and Central Africa (Cecafa) has revealed that Nairobi and Machakos County will host the initial matches of the upcoming Senior Challenge Cup tournament.
In a statement released to media houses, the Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said that other proposed stadiums will host other matches later on in the tournament.
The organizing committee has also revealed that the official unveiling of this year’s tourney will take place on Friday with Cecafa ambassadors stationed in Kenya being in attendance.
“For easier management and planning, we will have the preliminary matches in Nairobi and Machakos then the other towns-Kisumu, Mombasa and Mumias will host some knockout matches,” said Musonye.
The Football Kenya Federation [FKF] also confirmed that work progress on the Kisumu Stadium was at an advanced stage and assured that the pitch will be ready.
“What remains is just laying the turf and a few things which should not take long so I can assure you that Kisumu will be ready,” said chairman Sam Nyamweya.
The Stadium is currently undergoing a facelift with the government pumping in Kshs 3.6 Million for the clearing of the artificial turf.
The Kisumu county government has also assured that it will clear the garbage around the stadium ahead of the tournament.
Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Sudan, Zanzibar, Eritrea and Zambia have also been confirmed while Burundi is yet to respond.
The two weeks of action runs from November 27th to December 8th 2013.
