Al Ahly Ace Mohamed Abu Trika did not receive his Winners medal when his side won the African Champions League title on Sunday against the Orlando Pirates.
The Egyptian media has been speculating ever since as to why and are wondering if there will be any punishment considering his status.
The 35 years-old star led Al Ahly to win their eighth ACL title after he scored both in South Africa and Cairo.
Rumors hint that Trika did not take to the podium and get his medial from the Minister of Sports because of his views of the current government of Egypt.
The Cairo based club has already punished Ahmed Abdel Zaher after he used politically known hand signs as he celebrated his goal against the Pirates.
Egypt’s Minister of Sports Taher Abu Zaied has said that he will wait on a reply from the player before doing anything else.
"Mohamed Abu Trika is an icon , but he is also a person and makes mistakes , so we will wait for him to explain why did not receive his medal" Abu Zaied said .
Meanwhile Al Ahly officials have said that Trika did not receive his medal because he was busy celebrating with the team’s fans.
