Enyimba striker, Chimezie Amanfor has said his side have ended days of experimentation with the conclusion of the League Management Company (LMC) Super Six tournament in Abuja.
The 2014 Federation Cup winners finished the six-team annual football showpiece in fourth position on seven points, six points behind champions, Flying Eagles.
Amanfor said the side have learnt all the lessons therein and will hit the ground running both in the continental and domestic league.
“Test matches have ended with the conclusion of the Super Six tournament, no more test matches, we’re right now in a competitive mood.
“The coaches have been able to test all the players in their fold with the tournament and Enyimba are on the path to reclaim its winning streak both at the continent and home front.
“We’ve been on trials all this while and I’m happy it ended well for us as we’re now wiser with the bitter lessons picked as the tournament lasted,” said the former Akwa United marksman to supersport.com.
Amanfor said his side achieved 75 per cent performance at the just-concluded Super Six tournament.
“We can claim 75 per cent performance at the Super Six, now we know we’ve 25 per cent work to do to bring the side to the height to compete well at the continent.
“Fourth on the log wasn’t a bad performance, I knew right from the word go that we can’t win the tournament given the level of our preparations.
“I equally know we can’t come last so by all standards we met our set target at the tournament.
“The Super Six was a good exercise as it helped the teams to maintain fitness as well as know their shortcomings,” said Amanfor.
Enyimba have a 14-15 February date with the Benin Republic side, Buffles du Borgou FC, in the first leg of the Caf Champions League.
