ACL tie at MAT tough without injured stars

Kano Pillars head coach, Okey Emordi has said it will be difficult to prosecute the Caf Champions League clash at Moroccan champions, Moghreb Athletic de Tetouan (MAT) without his key injured players.
The Nigerian champions were involved in an armed robbery attack on the outskirt of Abuja on their way to Owerri for Glo Premier League match day opener at Heartland on Saturday which saw five key players namely Gambo Mohammed, Eneji Otekpe, Adamu Murtala, Moses Ubong Ekpai and Reuben Ogbonnaya hospitalized after the ugly incidence.
The Pyramid City are expected to depart the nation’s shore on Thursday for the weekend clash billed for the 10,000 seats Saniat Rmel, Tetouan, Morocco.
Emordi said his side will believe in destiny and go ahead to play the game if the African football body, Caf refused their passionate appeal for a shift in date.
“Of course, naturally it’ll be difficult to prosecute the match at Moghreb Athletic de Tetouan of Morocco without the injured players in attendance.
“Though we've written to Caf through the NFF for a shift in date for the clash but we’re yet to get any response.
“We’re working round the clock to put things right if we must go ahead to play the match as scheduled.
“It’ll be a real challenge but if we’re destined to win the clash the absence of the key five players won’t stop us from winning.
“I think this is the time for one to believe in destiny by doing one’s very best in a difficult moment and allow destiny to determine the outcome,” said the former Enugu Rangers manager to supersport.com.
The encounter is expected to hold on Friday while the reverse fixture holds in the first weekend of April at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
