Four months after its intended start, the Ghana Premier League has finally been launched.
The Ghana Football Association presided over the officially opening of the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League season on Wednesday.
The bid delay was due to King Faisal's insistence on going to court to contest their relegation.
But a court ruling last month threw the club's injunction application out, giving the Ghana FA the locus to hold Congress, which is statutory before the start of every football season.
Organizers of the league say there will be changes this term including the acquisition a new software which will help in gathering data of goals scored, cautions received by each player, league table statistics of all players, and online match reports, among others.
"For some time, we have never played our matches on any other day than Wednesday and possibly Saturdays and Sundays," Premier League Board (PLB) chairman Welbeck Abra Appiah said.
But this time round if you went through the fixtures you might have realized that even a match will be played on Friday. We must move with times as pertains in other parts of this world."
The first round will end on 29 April and the second round tentatively fixed for 7 June.
The PLB also insist they will be enforcing regulations on pre- and post match press conferences which has largely been treated with contempt by clubs.
