Troughton expects little movement

University of Pretoria coach Sammy Troughton says he does not expect much January activity at the club, bar perhaps some of their youngsters going out on loan.
AmaTuks sit precariously just two points above the relegation play-off position and although they would like to strengthen in the January transfer window, they have no firm deals in place as of yet.
“I don’t think there will be many comings or goings at all,” Troughton told Times Media. “There are one or two players that we are interested in, but we are at the very beginning of negotiations with agents and so I cannot mention names.
“But whether we could get them now or at the end of the season is a big question and I would say it is a bit of a long-shot.”
Troughton says they have also been trying to place some of their younger players with National First Division teams to give them competitive experience, but have no confirmations yet.
“There are a few youngsters that we would not mind seeing getting some game-time in the NFD to help them with their development. But again it’s a bit quiet on that front for now.”
Cash-strapped AmaTuks have one of the smallest squads in the PSL this season having used only 21 players in the league in their 17 matches to date.
It means they are hardest hit by injuries and suspensions, but are also hamstrung in the transfer market by what they are able to afford.
